Washington, DC, USA

Posted on Saturday 28 July 2007

In Washington, DC this weekend for a meeting and then back home to Minneapolis tonight.  I used to live here in Washington and every time I come back I am reminded how this is my kind of town.  Not unlike Chicago, I just love this city.  There is enough hustle and bustle for me, but also it is pretty easy to get out of town quickly - (the District is only like 30 square miles, if that) -

This morning I went for a seven mile run where I was able to run by the following things:  The White House (George W was home because the flag was up and secret service on the roof, or at least I think he was home), The Washington monument, the Lincoln Memorial, The World War II memorial (I saluted and remembered the greatest generation that kept the world free from Hitler), The Vietnam Memorial, The State Department, The US Capitol, the National Gallery of Art, The Native American Museum, The Smithsonian, The Library of Congress, Senate office buildings, The Supreme Court, The Treasury Department and more - all that in about 70 minutes - Can you beat that?  I can’t - I love this city.  I love this country.  JVD
