Don’t Write Emails while Drug Induced

Posted on Thursday 24 May 2007

Yesterday I went in for some medical testing and part of the procedure required that I get put under by some narcotics.   After the testing I thought I would catch up on some email and my wife was firm with me that it was not a good idea.  I agreed.

Later that night I was like, oh I am good to go, I will start cranking away on some email.  I had about 100+ emails to answer and probably should have just turned my laptop off, but my Achiever / Activator / Focus strengths kicked in and I started working.  The problem was that they narcotics were still making more hazy than I was willing to admit.

All this to say, don’t do email when you are under the influence of narcotics.  I think I did ok except for one series of emails where I contradicted myself and then had to apologize for being incoherent to my colleagues.  Lessons Learned - JVD

Because you were drug-induced, you may not remember the look your wife gave you when you said you were going to check email…..she knew it wasn’t a good idea….
