The other day I happened to hear that Oprah Winfrey endorsed Barack Obama for the Presidency in 2008. This, according to Oprah, is the first time she has endorsed a candidate of any kind. When asked what she thought of Hillary Clinton, Oprah responded diplomatically that she was not against any candidate, only that she was for Barack. As hard as I found that pill to swallow Oprah went on to laud Hillary and use some diplomatic-speak to say that she knows Barack the best and believes he can be President.
Interesting that Oprah picks now to jump in the US political melee that is the Presidential election process. Interesting that we have a melee, but at least it is a peaceful transition of power which is rare in some parts of the world. JVD
