Hello to everyone! This past few weeks has been a whirlwind in my life. Non-stop work, volleyball, traveling, consulting and more! This weekend I amgoing with my wonderful 17 year old volleyball girls to a tournament at Drake College in Iowa. We are also supposed to get up to 16 inches of snow here in Minneapolis so it could make for some interesting driving conditions.
Volleyball has been going well - we are learning to play as a team and worry less about individual performances. Our girls from the 17-2’s team are very talented - some will get scholarships to play college volleyball - are from a bunch of different schools. So we have what amounts to an all-star team - well that is great but chemistry can trump talent.
So, we are working on having the chemistry catch up with the talent. Last weekend we finished 17th out of 84 teams at a regional tournament. The problem was that the two teams we lost to we should have easily beat. This would have put us in the top five. We told the girls they have to learn to win under pressure. This is something they are learning. I am excited to head to Iowa tonight - (oh my did I just really use ‘excited’ and’Iowa’ in the same sentence?) JVD
