Life: Help Somebody Out

Posted on Monday 12 February 2007

During the course of the last few years I have figured out a few things that seemed to have eclipsed me for the majority of my life.
1)  If you spend time helping other people out you yourself will be filled up.  This has little to do with money, things, etc, but it has to do with your heart.

2)  The less self-focused you are, the happier you will be - or should I say content.

Those are some really basic things that I try and think about on a day to day basis and let those principles guide me.  How am I helping my wife?  How am I helping my family?  How am I helping my friends?  How am I helping my co-workers, etc. etc.    Now this does not mean you have to forget about yourself.  This is not my point.  But, typically the most content people I run into are all about helping other people out.

Thanks for your input last week Joe, we really appreciated your efforts in coming all that way for 6 hours! I hope you arrived home safely and had a chance to rest.

You’re right about living life for the sake of others. I hope that’s what we’re communicating in our community… and I hope that’s what I’m modelling!
