Dispactches from Kauai; Chapter 3

Posted on Friday 15 December 2006

A forced slowdown was in order the past two days after I sprained my ankle surfing near Poipu Beach.  I was having little problem getting up on the surfboard, my problem came getting off of it in the shallow water.  I heard a crack in my ankle when I fell off that sounded like the crack I heard when I broke my arm snowboarding a few years ago.  I was nervous, but I knew the pain was not as intense as a broken bone.

I am getting better, but the last two days we  have just been hanging out at the beach, yesterday Tunnels Beach on the north shore of Kauai - and that was fabulous.  There were only about 20 people on a beach that went on for miles and miles.  If you want beaches, and you want privacy - I have not seen an area that is better than Kauai.  Period.

Today we are going to find some more beaches, do some shopping and start realizing that we only have a few more days in paradise.  Time to really get some sun!  JVD

Dean - The weather’s great here - you are going to have a great time. Danielle and I have been making the most of the far SW corner of the island - no matter what it is sunny and 80 there.

Todd - Have a great break in Savannah!
