Guns N’ Roses & Dr. Lloyd John Ogilvie

Patience

Funny things happen when you are out running and listening to your IPOD. I have been thinking through some things lately and as soon as I was at a critical thought and the song “Patience” by Guns N’ Roses came on. The lyrics entail more than this but include:

All we need is just a little patience
(patience)
Mm, yeah

Right now I need a little patience, mmmmm yeah. Patience… -So that was yesterday - today I came to work to find a candle and a typed out prayer on my chair. The candle and prayer were from a co-worker who just wanted to do something nice for me - I thought it was just wonderful that they did that. The prayer was from a passive mentor of mine, Dr. Lloyd John Ogilvie, who was the chaplain of the US Senate when I was in Washington, DC and who I got to know during my time there.

Dr. Ogilvie’s prayer consisted of more than this, but again an excerpt:

“Dear God, before me is a brand new day filled with opportunities to live out my calling as a servant.”

That & patience will get me through - and I might even help someone along the way.

For what it is worth…
