Strengths & Leadership

Posted on Saturday 11 November 2006

This week has been a busier week than I anticipated it being.  This is not unusual, but the content of the week was somewhat surprising, maybe not the content so much but the quantity.  Let me explain.  Coming into this week I knew I was going to be speaking on / leading people through their Gallup StrengthsFinder results in two leadership classes at Bethel Seminary.  The Professor of the class is in Rwanda on a trip and asked me to fill in.  I said no problem.  That was Monday and Tuesday morning. Then, I knew I had to work with a group at Faith Presbyterian Church in Minnetonka, Minnesota and take that group through who they are, and how they can work together as a strengths-based team.  That was fun and happened on Thursday night.  Then, first thing Friday morning I received and email from my friend Mark Pogue.  Mark asked if I could fill in for him at the Macalester College Leadership Conference today in St. Paul, Minnesota.  I was happy to help out.

That is later today and should be an interesting crowd.  More about that event here:  Link to Leadership Conference  The panel discussion before I go on includes the former Mayor of St. Paul, some high end executives, and the President of Macalester.  It will be a good challenge for me to speak at this conference.
Then, next Monday I am going to speak to a  group of Master’s students on their strengths and how they can use increased self-awareness to improve their leadership ability.  My friend Brian always says, “All can influence, so all can lead.”  How we do that leading is based on who we were created to be.

Have a good weekend -
