This is going to be the tallest building in the world. There is an interesting history of buildings and building taller and taller buildings througout the history of the world. I grew up in Chicago and my Dad worked in the Sears Tower - which for about 20 years or so was the tallest building in the world. The Sears Tower was evenutally surpassed by other buildings, but I have no doubt what we are seeing in Dubai, and have seen in other countries will continue to push the literal ceiling on buildings higher and higher. Here is a graphic that represents where this building will/might stand compared to other tall buildings:

Is it that we as a society want to see how high we can go? Is it that there is prestige for a country to claim this title? Is it more things? Overall I thought it would be cool to show you this picture of the tower in Dubai, and that I want to visit Dubai someday.
