I just finished a new book by the Gallup organization called “Vital Friends.” This book was a good quick read reminding all of us that we need friends to really like where we work. I have been in environments that do not lend themselves to friendships, even prohibiting people from being friends at work. Crazy talk. Today I want to write about some of my vital friends in my life. I am blessed with many vital friends, but today I want to focus on just a few:
Danielle, my wife, confidant, intelligent, feeling-reader, salt of the earth, get things done, easy to get along with, go with the flow, empathetic, mentor, potential-seer, big-picture thinker, and more. Those are just a few things to describe how I see my wife. She is my best friend among my vital friends.
John, friend for 20 years, self-starter, caring, empathetic, adaptable, helpful, RELIABLE, consistent, determined, fierce, motorcycle rider. John has been such a great friend for so long it is hard to recount all he has, and continues to do for me.
Todd B, friend for 10 years, idea-man, super go with the flow, good at whatever he does, skater, boarder, feels for other people, always looking at his opinions and where he stands, good husband, and more. Todd was one of the first people I met when I was checking out Bethel College, and he has been my friend ever since. I am thankful for Todd.
Todd M, friend for 10 years, strategic, thoughtful, reliable, caring, vikings fan (this is worth noting becuase how hard it is to be a Vikings fan.), wise, thinker, never satisfied, good golfer, caring soul. I appreciate Todd because he is always there whenever I need him. I could say much more, but I appreciate Todd.
Michael B, friend for 5 years, one of a kind, interned for both Ronald Reagan and Dan Quayle, once opened a door for President Bush #1, and led him to meet President Reagan. Eclectic, super-smart, open, honest, and more. Michael is one in a zillion. I appreciate Michael.
