Bethel vs. St. Kates

We were so close last night! We ended up losing to Bethel University in the fifth game 15-10. It was a good game for us, but it would have been great to get the “W.” Here is the story:

Wildcat volleyball falls in five
September 20, 2006 – The College of St. Catherine volleyball team lost to Bethel on Wednesday night in a hard-fought five game match. Game 1 saw the Wildcats jump out to a quick lead but they were not able to hold off the Royals and fell by a score of 31-29.

Game 2 saw the Wildcats claw their way back into the match with a 30-26 victory. Game 3 was all Royals as they pulled out to a 2-1 lead with a win by the score of 30-18. The Wildcats once again drew even with a 32-30 win in game 4. The fifth and deciding game saw the Royals jump out to a quick lead, one that they would not relinquish as the sealed the match with a 15-10 victory.

The Wildcats were lead by Nicole Haase who racked up 17 kills on the night. Other key contributors for the Wildcats included; Lana Brand (12 kills), Maria Hoffman (11 kills) and Erika Kriechbaum (30 digs). The Royals were lead by Liz Glesne’s 24 kills.

“We played hard tonight, fought our way back and gave ourselves a chance to win it in five,� stated Wildcat head coach Nicole Hess. “It was a fun match to be a part of, we did some good things tonight and have some positives to build on,� added Hess.

    I noticed your St. Kates was able to beat my Bethany Lutheran a while back. Have you or will you have the chance to face my other former school Central College?

    Thanks for stopping by - We did take Bethany out, but lost to Central earlier in the season. Central is nationally rated and a very good team. Someday maybe…
