The older I get, the more I think about the words I use on a daily basis. When I speak to people who are my superiors and I have something serious to say, I ask for permission to ’speak frankly.’ I think I picked this up in a movie somewhere, but it is a nice cue to let people know what is coming next might be something that is not all peaches and cream.
Pause before you speak, think about what you are going to say. I don’t think I am any kind of excellent communicator - I think I am pretty average. But, to get better I think about things and the weight the may or may not have with the intended listening parties. Go with what you are strong at - I try and use humor to lighten up situations - it sometimes works!
That is all I have for you all today. I have enjoyed reading through Malcolm Gladwell’s blog & writings. He is fantastic and I urge you to read through his blog. I have it linked on my page. I may be switching my blog soon to josephdworak.com and using wordpress software. Vox is becoming a bit unreliable as people are trying to comment and not being able to. I also want to put my writings on a website that I run. Have a great day!
