Yesterday was an eventful day in two respects:
1) We had our first look at our St. Kate’s Women’s Volleyball team in action vs. competition other than inter-squad. We played St. Olaf, Hamline University and Luther College. Our team came out flat against St. Olaf in our opening scrimmage, but then in the second game we were taking it to them for a good part of the match. Against Hamline we did really well and started running some plays, and controlling the match. Against Luther (where the Dave Matthew’s CD “Live at Luther College” was recorded) we dominated. It was so much fun to see our team in action and doing well for only having been practicing for a few days. This season should be a lot different than last season.
2) During our match vs. St. Olaf we had to go down in the basement because the Tornado sirens went off. As we were going downstairs baseball and softball sized hail was pelting the ground. Every car in the parking lot was damaged, probably 500+ cars that were eithe totalled, or had $1,000’s in damage. Windows blown out, cars flooded, doors dented so bad you could not get into the cars. Thank goodness I did not drive to the match. It was something I have never seen before. I felt really bad for the folks whose cars were taken out. What a bummer.
