What a Day!

Posted on Saturday 19 August 2006

So today, as I wrote about the other day - we are starting our preaseason today for St. Kates Volleyball. We had two practices today and it was fantastic. Last year we went 3-24, yes that is not a typo. We are a rebuilding program and last year was the hardest season I have ever been a part of. We would get so close to winning and then, we would lose. And lose, and lose again.

But today there was hope. There was a new mood in the gym. There were new recruits who were putting the ball down like it has not been put down in that gym for years, maybe ever. I don’t know how good we will be. But we will be a lot better than last year. I can just tell.

The tide has risen, and all the boats in the harbor are rising because of it. Our returning players were being pushed like never before. The new players are going at it with reckless abandon. Oh it is fun to be a part of. We play later this week at a scrimmage at St. Olaf with a bunch of other teams who will assume we stink again. But, I think they are going to be in for a surprise.

I am so stoked. I almost can’t believe it.

Now - let them all stay healthy.
