Today I got to meet with my friend Ramon. Ramon is one of my favorite people in the whole world. Ramon grew up in the Dominican Republic and came to the USA to study in Iowa for his undergrad degree. I could write a book about Ramon, but suffice it to say, he is an inspiration to me.
Ramon just graduated from Bethel Seminary and is starting an organization called Impact Lives. This organization is going to work on a global scale to support relief efforts, train organizations in cross cultural communication, and other great connecting pieces. Ramon wants to transform countries, and transform the world. I may get a chance to partner with Ramon on some strengths- based training pieces that I do, and I am excited to see what happens.
Regardless of culture, being more self-aware is an important piece if you hope to communicate across cultures. If you are unaware, you have little chance of communicating across cultural lines. This is an area I hope to grow in, and I hope I get to partner with Ramon as he will probably change the world for the better. Check out Impact Lives at http://www.impactlives.org
On a golf note, I played in a scramble today and missed a hole in one by two feet. I did win closest to the pin though…. Our team shot 63 at Troy Burne, a wonderful course in Wisconsin. All for charity! JVD
