Last Day of Volleyball / Ramblings

Posted on Sunday 7 May 2006

Today marks my last day coaching the 16-3’s girls junior olympic volleyball team for Minnesota Select. Yesterday we played in a tournament in Rochester, MN and we went 3-2 on the day. The team performed at a pretty typical level, beating the teams we should, and competing against the really good teams. Overall it was a decent day.

After volleyball it was about 70 degrees and sunny so I got on the internet and found a great little golf course south of Rochester. This course was truly a hidden gem. Driving through bucolic cornfields I came upon this course and thought, wow - river, limestone bluffs, no one around, I am in heaven. I was. There was almost no one on the course, just me and my golf clubs. I could hear my own footsteps as I walked from hole to hole. It was beautiful.

Today we play in the playoffs of this volleyball tournament. I hope we can win a few and end the season on a good note. No more volleyball coaching until August 15, 2006 when I start back up with the St. Kate’s iswomen’s team. More later… JVD
